Heinrihs Vorkals
1994
Drawing. Paper, watercolor, pencil. 44 x 32 cm.
Heinrihs Vorkals’ creative activity was expressed in the framework of conceptual art, developing the principles of serigraphy and fragmentarism, using drawing, pastel and watercolour techniques. From the 1960s, the artist’s creative ideas and work were influenced by the strong impulses of US pop culture, which the artist absorbed indirectly (having never been in the United States) from American pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. Heinrihs Vorkals was attracted by the irony expressed by these artists in interpreting the stories related to political and social events in the United States.
