The Gap

Laris Strunke

2016
Painting. Oil on Canvas. 110x150,5 cm.
  • Painter Laris Strunke: “I was in Iceland and I missed the bus. I had a couple of hours to spare, and I climbed the hill, where I discovered a gorge cleft in the landscape, reaching into the depths. A strait where something hides. There is one experience when space is open and another when very little is visible. The narrower the opening, the greater the interest in what is hidden. Do these two parts of the gorge want to meet or separate? The concept of a gorge is very multifaceted.”
