VV Foundation is pleased to share that works from our collection are included in the large-scale group exhibition “Pirmavoti” at Ola Foundation, opening on 21 November. The exhibition explores family lineages within Latvian art and the significance of creative continuity across generations.
Curated by Auguste Petre, the exhibition brings together fourteen artistic families, reminding us that Latvian art is rich with powerful creative lineages – so extensive that no single exhibition could capture their full scope. “Pirmavoti” highlights both multi-generational continuities and family tandems, while emphasising the diversity of artistic expression and media.
More than 60 artworks by 42 artists are on view, including Džemma Skulme, Juris and Artūrs Dimiters, Andris and Aleksandrs Breže, Ansis Starks, Ieva Iltnere, Edgars Iltners, Jānis Mitrēvics, Andra and Katrīna Neiburga, MAREUNROL’S, Frančeska and Gunārs Kirke, Večella Varslavāne, Gunārs Krollis, Kate Krolle, Reinis Bērziņš, Ansis and Kristaps Epners, Ieva Epnere, Normunds and Elīna Brasliņa, SkujaBraden, Helēna, Anna and Ivars Heinrihsons, Vija, Paula, Kaspars, Kristaps and Indulis Zariņš, and many other renowned Latvian artists.
The exhibition design is created by artist Aleksejs Beļeckis, who pays attention both to the dialogue between family lineages and the unique architecture of Ola, while its visual identity is developed by Estere Betija Grāvere.
Works in the exhibition come from the collections of the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Artists’ Union of Latvia, VV Foundation, Galerija Māksla XO, Ola Foundation, and private collections.
The exhibition is on view from 21 November to 14 March.
