Miķelis Fišers

Miķelis Fišers (1970) is a Latvian artist and stage designer who covers a very broad field of expression in his creative work, including painting and installation. He acquired a master’s degree from the Art Academy of Latvia Monumental Painting Department in 1995. The artist has organised nineteen solo exhibitions, participated in recognised exhibitions in Germany, The UK, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland, Russia, Italy, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Switzerland.
He was an artist at the 56th Venice Arts Biennial and also created the pavilion of Latvia at the 57th Venice Arts Biennial. Miķelis Fišers has created scenography for shows at the New Riga Theatre, Theatre Observatory, and the Dailes Theatre. In 2015, Mr Fišers won the Purvītis Prize for the solo exhibition “Netaisnība” (“Injustice”).
