Ģirts Muižnieks

Ģirts Muižnieks (1956) graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia at the beginning of the 1980s, at the same time convincingly asserting himself on the stage of art together with the young artists of his generation, completely changing the traditional Latvian art scene. Since 1992, Ģirts Muižnieks has organised 15 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 50 group exhibitions in Latvia and worldwide. He has been nominated for the Purvītis Prize three times. The works of Ģirts Muižnieks are in the collections of the Latvian National Museum of Art, Latvian Museum of the Association of Artists, Georgian Museum of Art (Tbilisi), European Central Bank (Frankfurt), Ministry of Culture of Russia and the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), as well as other public collections and private collections in Latvia and abroad.
