Work from “Fish with Legs” series provides an abstract and specific reflection on the event that took place 365 million years ago, when the oldest known quadripod creature – Ventastega curonica came out of water in the territory of Kurzeme. This decision to go on shore has left remaining impact and created innumerable opportunities. Nevertheless, Ventastega is believed to be an evolutionary dead end, because none of current animal species is its successor. In the context of the exhibition, the “dead end” is rather viewed as an opportunity to meet a phenomenon that is difficult to categorise. The question of why Ventastega decided to spend some time outside water is still unclear.
