Brenda Linda Jansone
Brenda Jansone is interested in the human body, its situation and relationship with the opinions
predominant in society. Through her works, she tends to highlight issues which could seem to be
inconvenient to other people. “Stigma Under Derma” is an installation consisting of nine silicone
objects made using the author’s technique, focused on the imitations of human skin and where body
parts are situated. The work explores the attitude which is directed today towards the human body
and the elements arising from it. Hair – the attitude of the public to hair as a general element and
one of the most popular methods of body modification – tattoos. Enveloped in black sheets, the
objects remind us of a surgery scene, where the area to be operated on is separated from the
remaining body with the purpose of breaking the link between the human identity and body.
