From “Devil’s Lake” series. “Night with solstice”

In her series of photo works, the artist addresses the documentation of Lake Velnezers, also called Čertoks Lake (Devil’s Lake). It is around and deep lake with intensely green colour of water, which is situated in the middle of the forest in Aglona Municipality. Although the lake is surrounded by myths and secrets, there is not a single evidence of the lake in the collection of Latvian folklore. Probably, this region was visited by very small number of folklore collector expeditions, however, it is possible that the pronounced interest in Lake Velnezers has arisen only recently.
