This Friday, October 30, VV Foundation founder Vita Liberte joined Artissima Art Fair in Turin for a special talk, exploring the relationships between private collecting and contemporary art institutions.
Moderated by art historian, curator and critic Daniel Baumann, the two-part conversation addressed patronage practices and gender equity within the art system.
The first part brought together collector and patron Valeria Napoleone and collector Pedro Barbosa of Coleção Moraes-Barbosa, São Paulo. In the second part, Vita Liberte joined curator and art advisor Beatrix Ruf of the Hartwig Art Foundation, Amsterdam, to discuss the connections between private collections and institutional practice.
Artissima is Italy’s most important contemporary art fair. Since its establishment in 1994, it has combined the presence of an international market with a focus on experimentation and research. Galleries from around the world participate every year. In addition to the 4 flaghisp sections (Main Section, Monologue/Dialogue, New Entries, Art Editions), Artissima is also composed of 3 curated sections, headed by a board of international curators and museum directors, devoted to emerging artists (Present Future), to the rediscovery of the pioneers of contemporary art (Back to the Future) and to the drawing (Disegni).
The fair is curated by Artissima Srl, a company connected with the Fondazione Torino Musei.
