Anastasia Sosunova
1993, Lithuania
Anastasia Sosunova is a contemporary artist from Lithuania, who in her multidisciplinary practice explores the power systems of control, traditions, religious and enigmatic beliefs that shape the behaviour of individuals and communities today. Through reflection on, understanding and analysis of the economic and spiritual structures of her surroundings — in particular with reference to Eastern Europe and Lithuania — the artist envisions arenas in which personal and collective stories, memories of past events, legends, secular faiths and the reinterpretation of ancient mythologies coexist and interweave.
Sosunova works in various modes and media, combining printmaking techniques, sculpture, video and installation, through which acts of worldbuilding and forms of experiencing alternative narratives emerge in realms defined by migrating and hybrid iconographies.
She graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a BA in Graphic Arts and an MA in Sculpture. Her work was recently presented at the XIX Tallinn Print Triennial (2025), 15th Gwangju Biennale (2024), 17th Lyon Biennale (2024), Kaunas Biennial (2023), Baltic Triennial (2021), Manifesta 13 (2020), and RIBOCA (2020).
